Becoming a BCBA is more than accumulating hours and passing an exam. It's about developing professional identity, clinical judgment, and the capacity to serve diverse communities with skill and cultural humility. Innovageous Co-Founder and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Alicia Woolf, brings 8 years of BCBA supervision experience and a belief that supervision should honor your whole journey.
A Human-Centered Supervision Philosophy
This approach to BCBA supervision is rooted in the Innovageous School Design Principle of Human-Centered Wellness, the belief that everyone in a learning community deserves to feel safe, supported, and empowered to succeed holistically. Just as this principle emphasizes the well-being of everyone – students, educators, and families – in schools, it shapes how we at Innovageous approach supervision for emerging BCBAs.
Supervisees are seen as whole people rather than just a checklist of test content to complete and learn. Cultural humility sits at the foundation, a commitment to ongoing self-reflection, recognizing power dynamics in the supervisory relationship, and valuing the diverse perspectives and experiences supervisees bring. The goal is creating space for supervisees to show up authentically, ask questions without judgment, and develop into confident, skilled, culturally responsive behavior analysts. This supervision model acknowledges that emotional, social, and physical well-being lead to professional and personal growth and sustainable, meaningful practice in the field of ABA.
Broad Scope of Competence, Tailored to Your Path
When many people think of ABA, one-on-one work with children with Autism often comes to mind. However, Alicia’s scope of competence spans several applied areas of behavior science beyond clinical work and discrete trials, allowing her to support supervisees with diverse career interests. Whether you're passionate about educational applications, including Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), general classroom consultation, and special education settings, or drawn to Organizational Behavior Management (OBM), adult learning, and leadership coaching, guidance is available for your development. Like our approach to all partnerships, supervision at Innovageous is customized to meet you where you are and personalized to support where you want to go.
What to Expect with Remote Supervision
Innovageous remote supervision is individualized to specific goals, learning styles, and areas of interest. Each virtual session follows an organized agenda with clear goals, and includes vetted articles and practical tools aligned to the BACB Test Content Outline to help you reflect on your progress, identify areas for growth, and learn the “how” of being a BCBA. Working collaboratively, supervisees develop required skills through a variety of synchronous and asynchronous learning structures, including modeling effective strategies, guided practice with feedback, visual aids to support understanding, and facilitated discussions that bridge research to real-world practice. You'll engage in real-world application and problem-solving with actual cases, translating evidence-based interventions into meaningful action. It's a safe space where questions are welcomed, challenges are navigated together with experienced guidance, and growth happens through both accountability and compassion. All this, and we maintain meticulous documentation so you can make sure your hours count toward your supervised or concentrated fieldwork pathway.
